In the last few weeks City of Brandon have been adding to their list of opendata datasets. One in particular – Current River Levels – has me doing a little happy dance inside.
A few months ago, in my quest to find information that City of Brandon could easily be publishing, I came across a map, that included all of the inventory of trees that the city has, including gps coordinates, type, size, etc.
We all hate them – Taxes!
But I’ve always been curious as to why somebody would not pay them (especially year after year). The City of Brandon provides a list of these properties but they come down in Roll # form.
So I decided to do another quick lunch time hack and display these properties on a map.
One of the utilities the City of Brandon provides is updated satellite imagery. Although the imagery is from 2013, they provide it at a really high resolution!
Ok, I’ll admit it. I’m a big data nerd.
A few years ago when the City of Brandon created their open data platform, there was some general excitement (at least from a few of us in town), about our local government finally becoming more transparent.
